Barley Creek Camp sits on 52 acres with a view of rolling barley fields and the spectacular Teton Mountains. The property has a small, slow-moving stream (Barley Creek, named after our Golden Retriever) that runs through the eastern side of the property. The bottom two acres of the property have been designed with two ‘tent cabins’, each with its own platform and deck with a full view
of the Teton Mountains. Each tent cabin is spacious, carpeted, tastefully furnished in western
décor and is equipped with electricity, wireless DSL Internet access, a wood stove and sleeps
four people comfortably. Each tent cabin has its own heated bathhouse with hot and cold running water, shower/bath and toilet. True western comfort and camping at its best!
The ground area around the tents is a lush grass lawn with Aspen trees sprinkled throughout. The camp is surrounded by native grasses and wildflowers and includes a wooded wildlife and stream corridor along Barley Creek with wonderful walking paths.
While we, John and Linda, reside in the yurt, in addition to the two tent cabins, a ‘cook tent’ is an integral part of the camp. The cook tent is set up near the tent cabins and yurt and offers a direct view of the mountains. Inside, we have a complete kitchen facility with family-style breakfast served each morning. One corner of the cook tent is reserved for a small library and quiet area. Whether it’s a warm day with the summer breezes blowing through the open cook tent or there’s a chill in the air and it’s zipped closed with the wood stove blazing, the cook tent is a camp gathering place for many memorable meals.
And then there is the hot tub – large enough for six – a great way to start your day or end it. Of course, you’ll have a view of the Tetons while soaking!
Another favorite gathering spot, perhaps the centerpiece of the camp and also facing the Tetons, is our fire circle. With log benches, Adirondack chairs and a large fire pit, this is truly the ‘heart’ of the camp. What is it about a campfire that draws people together – for cocktails, dinner, an evening chat, marshmallow roasting or stargazing?
